FAKE ART

This exhibition is a quest towards questions, not answers.

WHAT IS ART?

Is it unique? Does it have any soul in it?

Are these visual pieces art, or just products - a superficial digital interpretation, a mimicry of the human spirit?

Could it be that the human gaze alone is enough to turn fake art into real art?

How much human, and how much machine?

Where does the border run? Is there a border at all?

YOU DECIDE.

I created FAKE ART gallery in the days when artificial intelligence broke out of the laboratories and reached the masses.

A new and wondrous world opened up in front of me.

I was drawn to it like to fire - as intoxicating as it was dangerous.

I watched this "creature of intelligence" take its very first steps: how it sees the world, how it interprets human emotion, how it understands being human.

The prompts were deliberately very short, to let the machine "express itself".

And it did.

Since then the borders between human and machine have only kept blurring - and not only in art.

And Marshall McLuhan's immortal line echoes in me louder and louder:

THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE.
